About the Webmaster, S.M. Miranda

I am a Catholic layman who has dedicated this website to the evangelization of the Catholic faith in defense against modern skepticism, heresy and unbelief.  I believe wholeheartedly in fides et ratio (faith and reason are compatible) and believe that the major stumbling block in modern evangelization is a lack of proper catechesis among Catholics, and a prevailing laxity of thought that dominates the culture of most modern nonbelievers. In essence, it is my belief that many Catholics lack an ardent faith because they do not understand their religion. I also believe that agnosticism is prevalent in our culture because modern culture does not encourage or promote the idea that faith can be rational.  Few nonbelievers are willing to study religion and philosophy enough to choose wisely between theism and atheism.  It is therefore my goal to address both needs in an attempt to spread the good news to all who are willing to open their heart and mind.

Although I do not have formal theological training, I have made every effort to teach the Catholic faith accurately and honestly by referring to four main sources:  quotations from the Bible, references to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, reference to the Summa Theologica of Saint Thomas Aquinas, and the guidance of Fundamentals of Catholic Dogma written by Dr. Ludwig Ott.  I did receive some philosophical education at the University of Texas at Austin.  I recently received a B.S. in aerospace engineering from U.T. Austin and work as an aerospace engineer on the national ballistic missile defense shield for a U.S. defense contractor.
